Colorado Mountain College R&D Industrial Fiber Hemp Senior Project
We are proud to partner with a college student and good friend to help her sustainability research project focused in Industrial hemp. We are helping her conduct a pilot test program with industrial fiber hemp.
The first task is to conduct sampling for soil remediation. The soil will be tested before the crop is planted and after when the crop is harvested. We will not use the same registered land area we used in the past for our CBD hemp growing operation.
The second task to accomplish is zero waste. By utilizing the stalks for hemp hurd, she will make a structure with a proprietary blend of hempcrete. The hempcrete will be used to build a structure. This structure will be tested for fire resistance, moisture and temperature control.
The goal of this project is to confirm the sustainability of industrial hemp. This project will empower her to develop a sustainability business and put her bachelors degree to good use while helping the environment.
Update 9/3/2025 - Unfortunately, the crop did not make it to full maturity. The remaining stalks will be made into a small house. The house will be tested for fire resistance, moisture and temperature control. The soil will need to be tested last to see if the land has been cleansed of any impurities.
